Restoration Engineering

WPI is experienced in the restoration of existing buildings and structures.  Milt Walker has personally completed investigations and comprehensive restoration programs for over 15 parkades in Saskatchewan.  He has been the lead technical engineer responsible for restoration of three major bridge structures, the 4th Avenue viaduct in Moose Jaw and the McDonald Street and Pasqua Street overpasses in Regina.

Restoration Engineering services include:

  • Condition surveys, visual inspection, chemical and physical testing;
  • Condition assessment;
  • Analysis of causes of distress;
  • Recommendations for repair, including life cycle costing;
  • Preparation of design and tender documents;
  • Implementation of repairs within operational constraints;
  • Monitoring and maintenance programs; and
  • Quality control and Quality Assurance.

Most recently, WPI was the Consultant for the restoration of the Cornwall Centre's Hamilton Street Parkade in Regina, SK.  The project involved structural repairs to an eight level parkade with a single path of traffic.  The project was designed and scheduled so that the parkade was able to remain open at all times.  This was especially critical as the project schedule necessitated that the work be completed during the busy "Back to School" shopping period.

WPI is currently serving as Consultant for a major restoration of the Regina City Hall Parkade.
